Dear FIU Panthers,  

We invite you to become a student leader in a new research project and help improve the experiences of STEM students at FIU! Project VOCES (Voices for Organizing Change in Educational System) is a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant that includes student leaders in all facets of the project. Each semester, we assemble a new cohort of Vocero Student Leaders that play key roles, provide project leadership, and conduct STEM education research.  If you are interested in learning more or joining the Voceros Student Leaders program, please fill out a Vocero Application.

Benefits of the project include: 

  • Use your perspective and experiences as a STEM student to improve the support structures and environment for FIU’s STEM students
  • Participate in a research internship (opportunity for continued engagement in the project, for up to two-years of internship)
  • Gain experience in conducting research, curriculum design, and/or innovative student programming 
  • Salary starting at $15/hour with flexible hours during the school year
  • Opportunities for leadership experience at the departmental and institutional level
  • Opportunities for networking with FIU faculty and administrators

Project expectations and eligibility:

  • Workload of 15-30 hours per week in the Summer with flexibility available. 6-10 hours per week during the Fall and Spring
  • Voceros Student Leaders will be undergraudate STEM majors in good standing interested in improving STEM education for FIU Panthers
  • Voceros must be students who are US citizens, nationals, or permanent residents.
  • Voceros Student Leaders are expected to engage in the project for a minimum of 2 semesters.
